Faraday's Law of Induction

Swing a magnet through a 3D coil and watch the induced EMF. Spin an AC generator rotor and see the sinusoidal output voltage. Understand magnetic flux, flux linkage, and Lenz's Law.

Faraday's Law

A-Level

Faraday's Law states that the induced EMF in a circuit equals the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage. Lenz's Law adds that the induced current opposes the change that caused it. Together they explain generators, transformers, and induction.

📐 Formulas

\mathcal{E} = -N\frac{d\Phi}{dt}Induced EMF
\Phi = BA\cos\thetaFlux through a surface
N\PhiTotal flux through N turns
